speeding through our village

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

I’ve had a discussion with the Chairman of the Parish Council about this already and I think its about time we had at least a speed camera or two in our village. Pressure needs to be kept on, before a fatal accident occurs.

Far & Wide

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Greetings from the Turks & Caicos Islands! Although I now live in the Caribbean, I always keep fond memories of my childhood in Brailes.

It was good to find this site, there has been so little on the web about Brailes - it is always good to find snippets of information.

It would be interesting to find out how far away other former Brailes residents have moved to now.

Best regards, especially if you remember me,

Paul Matthews

Hullo Brailes Blog

My name is Annie Freeman and I live in West Kensington, London with my husband Francis. I am trying to trace the relations of Victor, Charles, Clifford Mason who died in Upper Brailes Jan 13 1974 aged 70 years. He was married to Freda (nee Humphrey) Mason. She moved to 32 Mayo Road, Shipston on Stour and died July 14 1989 aged 79 years. Her father was Fred Humphrey of Haselbech Grange, Northamptonshire and her, and her husband’s, cremated remains are interred in his grave in St. Mary’s Church, Haselbech.   He was my grandfather.

She and her surviving relations may not have known the existence of her half sister, MY MOTHER, Drusilla, Mary (Humphrey) Dunn - always called Mollie - who died Sept 13th 1996. I  am hoping to contact, and would love to find out whether Freda and Victor have any relatives living in, or near, Brailes to put together the jigsaw pieces of my mother’s family. I also know that Freda had two other sisters called Elizabeth, who married Thomas, Luddington Ruff and Helen (Nell).

I hope someone reading this may have some information.

With many thanks,

Annie Freeman
